I keep hearing every other day people complaining about Windows 8. Most of the complaints are still about the Windows Start screens. Even though I don’t believe that people have given it much of a chance, I have just resorted to chipping away at the complaining.
Though my response was usually, “What don’t you like about it?”, I now say, “You know you can boot to desktop so you don’t have to see it right away, right? Most of the time, I still hear, “No, I didn’t know that.” Geez. Talk about uniformed people.
So, I thought I would write up a quick post to quickly explain how to boot to desktop.
First Step: Go to the desktop by going to your favorite Start Screen and clicking on your desktop Icon. You could also the Windows + D keyboard Shortcut.
Second Step: Right click on the Taskbar and select Properties
Third Step: Select the Navigation tab
Fourth Step: Place a check in the box next to “When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start”
Now, when you restart Windows and Sign-in, you will be brought right to the familiar desktop screen.
